  1. Memphis in April is beautiful because it's when all of the Azalia bushes show off.  My favorite Memphis walking song is Walking in Memphis by Marc Craig.

Ann, one of my favorite songs, when I was a little one, was These Boots Were Made for Walking. The little boot you found was a cool addition to a nice piece of work. Minka, I love your walk the line, and Mary, your overlay is super cool.

  2. I think Walk like an Egyptian is one of my favorite old songs. Whenever I hear it, I can't help but sing along. My background paper came and the border came from Pixel scrapper. I created the 'walk' word by using a stone texture from Filter Forge, and the man was created by copying an old Egyptian print from the internet, isolating the man, and then flood filling to make a silhouette. I wish I could have added little sparks of light on the 'Like and Egyptian'. I was unsure how to do it. I played around trying to figure it out, but eventually gave up when I was unsuccessful. Also, folks, is there a way to kern individual letters?
  3. Thanks Annie, I was worried that my page was too simplistic. I love your tribute page and story about Steve and Terri. We used to watch Steve on TV along time ago.

Minka, giraffes are one of my favorites  too! I love your giraffe page. The design is beautiful.

  4. This is just for fun. I love gardening, especially in the early spring after things start to warm up. Yesterday was a wonderful day! My husband thinks I bought out the garden section of Home Depot! But honestly, I only filled one cart full of beautiful little plants. And then, I spent the afternoon playing in the dirt.

The picture is mine and I downloaded the elements from Pixel Scrapper.

  5. Peter I had that problem too, that it did not want to completely flood fill my border. I use a paint brush instead and because only the boarder is selected the paintbrush won’t bleed into any other area even if you go over the edges.
  6. My favorite techniques during this Bootcamp were the picking edge (that was awesome), and making a boarder around the picture with the Selection-Modify tool (I had tried to figure out how to do that on my own once with no luck!) I also enjoyed learning about  filling text with a pattern. Thanks Carole!
  7. This is my last Bootcamp Design. It has been a lot of fun, a lot of work, and I have learned a lot. Thanks Carole for teaching us!

Last spring, during the beginning of our Covid lockdown, my grandkids were virtual learning from home. One of my grandson's teachers gave him a creative assignment.  He was to design a robot that could perform a specific task. Because he loved to skateboard, he created a 'Skatebot'  He used coke cans, cereal boxes, Cardboard, and plastic container, and lots of hot-glue and paint! With the addition of some tennis shoes and wheels from an old skateboard, his Bot could actually roll down a hill!

  8. I learned the hard way that if you have an items selected on another layer, that the tools won’t seem to work. I had this happen to me a lot when I first started using the program. I’d forget to deselect and then try to use a tool on one of the top layers, and nothing happened! I don’t know if this could have been an issue with you or not. If so, try a Control D, when tools won’t work and then try again. I also couldn’t scale something before, and that’s because I forgot to set it to ‘scale’ word on the tool bar. In the beginning, when I forgot to do this, I spent 20 minutes once, trying to scale something, doing the same thing over and over. I don’t know if possibly that was the issue with you but I hope this helps.
  9. My issue with the Layers on wanting to move on my friends design has magically fixed itself. Could be, I just needed to restart PSP.  Sometimes, I think my laptop gets stressed out by the needs of the program and then it hiccops.
  10. This is my Bootcamp Day 9 design.

I am a practicing Catholic, so not going to church in person has been a real struggle and sacrifice for me during this pandemic. But, even with all of the hardships like social distancing, not shopping, not eating out, God has blessed me greatly. Last summer, we spent a lot of time outside on our covered patio. It was awesome to watch and observe the many little 'nature' gifts that came my way. For me, they truly were little blessings.

I down-loaded a water droplet scatter to go along with my nature theme. After applying them to my design, I noticed that the highlights on the droplets did not correspond to my left-sided light source, and neither did my water droplet on the leaf picture. I rotated both my picture and the water droplet scatter so that the highlights were more uniform. I wasn't sure how to highlight the scatter. I ultimately decided that softer was better. I am not sure I did it correctly, because I have never shadowed water before.

  12. Peter, it gets easier! A month ago I was hanging on every word, watching and rewatching segments of the videos, while scratching my head and saying to myself, “Carole, how did you do that?” Although I had some knowledge of another graphics program, PSP was totally foreign to me. The more you work with the program the easier it gets.
  13. This is my design for the Bootcamp Day 7-Friends. These two grandkids have been friends since they were toddlers. I started working with PSP a month ago. It's amazing how easy things are now. Thanks Carole! You are a great teacher! I struggled a little bit with shadows on this one. When I applied the normal paper shadows, 10-10-10, they looked too dark for my papers, so I dropped the opacity way down.  I am not sure that was the right thing to do. I still have a lot of rookie questions, like- why are all my layers locked and I can't move them?? I am going to take some time and rewatch the setting-up of the workspace videos and then make a list of questions.
  14. I love all of the Designs that I am seeing! Everyone is doing a great job!

I love what Anita Wyatt did with Day 3 in choosing to make her picture an circle. Sue Thomas, I always like your birds! Ann Seeber, all four of your Day 3 layouts are great! Mary Solaas, I think you should use the top picture.

  15. Here is my design for Day 3.  My shadows did not show up against my black background. I ended up with a black background by mistake. But, I loved the contrast it gave my design, so I kept it. Yesterday, Joe (my husband) and I were walking on a dirt road next to a farmer's field, and we ran across this deer blind.  All I could think of was DIY Little house with wheels, well mainly because most of the time we live in a little house with wheels!  (Ours is in much better shape than this one!)
