Love Story Challenge 2020

redradar, are you talking about the "stamped" effects on the edges of that background paper? Have you tried leaving that layer there, and change the blend mode to show it off? I cannot say which one would show best as it would depend on the color/pattern of the paper you want to use.

Annie, you always find such interesting images to showcase!

Jnet, superbe fleur!! Et bien présentée sur cette page.

Gerry, even with little text, the settings of the Text tool can definitely be used for fun effects. That is a great page about Lynda! And your Day 3 project might be simple, but I find that simple is better to tell the story than the super busy pages I have seen in some galleries.

Shutterpixi, that is fun when you can extract elements that are real and related to your actual project. One thing I noticed is that the rope is likely upside-down; look at how the rope has a dark edge on the top right section. That would be inconsistent with light coming from the top left.

Minka, you can check out PixelScrappers and it has FREE supplies. That is a good way to start. As far as clarity when resizing to 600 pixels, you CAN try to use the Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen, but considering that there are only 600 pixels in width instead of 3600, it explains why some details will be lost. It is normal. Your "dark" project is stunning. It is great to see how the mask allows those bright colors to really shine!

Sue, it is fun to see you use those tutorials from your membership!

Cristina, your use of the mask on Day 4 is so creative!

Lydia, I totally agree with that saying: "everyone was a beginner in the first place".

Peggy, what do you mean when you are talking about two masks on the same image? Do you mean two different photos+mask on the same project, or two different masks showing two different areas of the same photo?

Leslie, as for your title, maybe you can rearrange the layers so it would stay on top of the masked photo instead of underneath it. And yes, the Text on a path can add quite an effect to a project.

Trish, your Day 5 project looks great. You might want to either enlarge the image of the flower OR fill out the outside of the small flower image with some "filler" pattern. That should fill in the white designs that you were trying to fill.

Lynda, that black background really showcases the photo and fireworks.

day 5 project:  I added a few "z's" to the mask.  Then I spent a couple of hours trying to make sleeping dog and cat emoji brads which turned out sort of okay but they just cluttered up the page so I didn't use them. The three sleeping pictures were not close to the same in terms of quality so I used the comic sketch script to make them match a little better.

According to google, cats sleep as much as fifteen hours a day (some actually sleep even more, up to 20 hours out of every 24).  Dogs don't need quite as much sleep, averaging 12 to fourteen hours a day.  When my cat Rahne got to be about sixteen years old, she decided to schedule a good bit of her awake time starting about 2 a.m. when she's wander around and yowl.

Lynda--pretty effects--you have your OWN motorcycle? Brave woman!

Also, I took the picture of the robin with my bridge camera. It hasn't been edited except to reduce it in size to post here. It was raining, I was in my car, the bird wasn't that far away, less than fifteen feet, but I was able to zoom right into it. I think bridge cameras are great for wildlife shots.

Minka--I love the "Stay Clever" page.

I don't want to discourage you from buying graphics from different sites--there are lots of really nice things for sale. However, there are also lots of free things available as well. PixelScrapper has been mentioned a few times. You can download a limited number of items each day for free. Scrapgirls has a free item on both Tuesday and Friday--it's always on the last page of "What's New". My Memories.com has free items to download. There is a french site that has free layout templates, papers and elements: look for le blog de loulou31. And there are more sites, I'm sure. I started digital scrapbooking just about this time last year and I've collected a lot of digital supplies, some I've paid for, many for free.

Lydia-I really like the page you did of your granddaughter: the layout fits the page "just right", the colors you chose compliment the picture and I love the way you applied the painted flowers over the edge of the mask as well as over a teeny part of the picture--they pull the eye toward the picture. Very nice.

Hi Everyone.  This is my result for day 5.  I did use the kaleidoscope tool for the background and my appreciation of this tool is improving, :)  I think because of the photo I had chosen I had difficulty with the mask.  Finding the right brush was a bit of a trial and then when resizing the main image for posting it lost clarity.  It took me about 6 attempts to get it to an acceptable quality but it sure isn't my favourite work!  Font used for the title is "Teenage Fantasy Romance Novel" and for the journal "Bradley Hand ITC".  Thanks for takin a peek!

Masks are certainly not my favourate place, and I guess there will be another one tomorrow lol.  Eli did enjoy feeding the ducks.  I can tell you where the bread came from  but that is about all  as this is totally different scene to my early beginnings about 8 hours ago. Such a blessing to have it completed.  I might even frame the memory lol.

Day 6 of the  Love story Challenge.  I love these cheeky little chappies.  Like the ground squirrels they hibernate underground.  Soon they will awaken from their long winter sleep.  I'll have more mouths to feed them, as they love  sunflower seeds.  The fonts are Ramolina Script and  Memories.  A heart font ( Mellow Soldier)  on the frame.  A curl brush  on the mask.

Getting mine done early today as I have chores to do around town. Thank you for the tips on collecting stuff, Barbara. I plan to make time for a "browsing excursion" later today! Thank you, too, Cassel, for all the tips and tricks. Jumping on some of those! I think I was a little timid on the bokeh additions ... so added some after the fact, as well. It kinda worked. Thank you, too, Annie for your nice and encouraging words. It's all about learning and having fun, right? Lots of awesome ones to look at here. Everyone has lovely works. I think it's most interesting how we all kind of take a different approach. That's what art is all about.

whoops pressed the wrong button.

My programme has a will of it own, after spending hours making a tag, yesterday at some point it merged and at no time had I used merge in the making of it, that was amongst some other weird things it did, as if I wasnt in control.

Today I manage to catch it in the process while doing a completely different thing, it merged everything together, I undid it, but it kept doing it, I was using the erase tool at the time, and another time the back button.

has anyone else had an unexpected merge that they couldnt account for xx
