Various challenges can jumpstart your creativity, or push you a bit outside of of your comfort zone, or simply give you an additional excuse to make a scrapbook project. What kind of challenges would you like to see? There are already some challenges in The Lab, but let's have some challenges for everyone, even those NOT in The Lab.

Post your suggestions.

I have had a think about this Cassel and I don't think its so much as what inspires as more of what stops you from creating. Lack of confidence in producing something worthy has been a big stopper in the past and even though I love to have a go, confidence issues still lurk.

Also, because of complicating copyright issues using images from anywhere apart from my own, I shy away from those and use as much of my own creations as possible, as the CR ones can restrict what you use and do with their complicated TOU.

Learning how to make things, brushes, masks, shapes, backgrounds etc is what inspires me as I can use these without fear and the ideas spring into my little head. I really love your monthly seminars Cassell and have learnt so much. Thank you.

I have no idea what progressives, scraplifts, white spaces are but would have a go at them all the same.

Also, knowing what skills people have and are willing to share might be a useful tool to tap into.

Sorry this is long winded.

Oh, Sheila, I identify with much of what you wrote.  I have many of the same issues, including a lack of self-confidence in my own work and the complicated issues around using elements from other designers because everyone seems to have their own TOUs and some of them are mystifying to me.

My favorite things are also learning how to create elements of my own.

I don't join in many challenges that are scrapbook related because, well, I don't often do scrapbook pages, so I don't have much to suggest in that area.  I did enjoy the alphabet challenge but that's because I didn't try to do a scrapbook page for each one (that would have been more than I could manage).   I thought one challenge in the Lab was fun (though I didn't do anything with it) which was to see how many different ways one could use circles (polka dots included).....taking a shape and seeing how many ways it can be manipulated is sometimes a good brain storming technique (or taking several shapes and seeing how they can be combined).    Sometimes trying to use just  a limited number of colors (or shades of a single colors) can be interesting).  In one forum, long ago and far away, the moderator would provide three images and the challenge was to blend the three into one image, but I'm not sure that would work for scrapbookers.

I like doing all sorts of scrapbook challenges, although I have not had a lot of time for them lately.  Like Cassel says, they can stretch your ability or jumpstart a page.  I also like to learn to make my own things, and if that could be included in open forum kind of challenges, that would be great.

Doing a challenge, and seeing how others treat the same challenge, may help increase your confidence.  Even if you aren't confident enough to post it this time, you may with a bit of practice.  If you aren't sure about something, you can put it out there, and someone else may pop in and give you some gentle pointers.  Feedback is always a HUGE learning tool.  Sometimes I have trouble finding how to do a step, like the gradient in the  Reflections Tutorial.  I was happy with what I achieved, but I would accept and appreciate anyone telling me where I went wrong.  I also love to look at other people's pages for inspiration for my own book.

I think a weekly challenge would be fun to do.  I already belong to a Facebook group called Digital Diversions and we have a weekly challenge.  Sometimes I get great ideas and sometimes I am still blank!  But it is fun to see what other people do and that may spark an idea.  The group I'm in isn't all PSP users so sometimes I don't understand what they did.  I love to learn to make new things and have really learned a lot from Cassel.

I was thinking that sometimes responding to a quote might be a good challenge.  I saw one today:   "Even the smallest act of caring for another person is like a drop of water - it will make ripples throughout the entire pond..." -- Jessy and Bryan Matteo .... now I realize that the drop in a water is none too original as an image but that could be part of the challenge...how to move beyond a cliche and bring the meaning of the quote into the graphic so that it would be meaningful with or without the actual quote included.
