During the live class, on Sunday, @Sara Jackson was hoping for closed captioning. That is not a feature that I never had or offered. Today, I reached out to the support of the platform where I hold those classes and the agent explained that this feature is available in Chrome! So anyone who would want to have closed captions, can toggle them on their own. Here are the steps (only available with Chrome so far):

Note: This feature is only available in English.

Step 1: Open Chrome settings.

Step 2: Click Advanced and then Accessibility.

Step 3: Enable Live Caption.

Step 4: Close and reopen Chrome to restart it.

This also applies to anything online, whether it is live or recorded. So it also means that you can now have closed captioning for ANY of the videos in the Campus. Of course, it might not be 100% accurate but you can probably fill the blanks if something seems incorrect (like names and such).

Now, this has some limitations since it only works with Chrome. Although it would be a massive task to add closed captioning to all the existing videos in the Campus, I might consider adding them to future videos.

Thank you for the explanation on how to do it, but I had never heard of closed captioning. After a quick search on the internet I found what it is and in Dutch it is called "gesloten ondertiteling" and is used for people who have difficulties to hear the live audio, not only the words but the sounds as well, like wind blowing, a door slams shut etc.

I use Microsoft Edge and it also has live captioning. Drop down the ellipse (...) at the upper right and choose "Settings." Click on the three stacked lines to the left of the word "Settings" and choose "Accessibility." Finally, choose "Open system preferences for captions." Turn on captions and allow the caption update to download. You can set caption styles here (font size and color, background color and transparency, etc.). Then use the Windows logo key + Ctrl + L to turn on live captions, while on a page with sound.

Oh, that is interesting!! Thanks for sharing. However, this is specifically a Windows 11 feature. But it is great to know!

Coincidentally I have google Chrome and I have applied the tip.  I have to select the piece that I want to have translated and then it appears in my own language because I have set it to Dutch. It can be converted into many languages. I still have windows 10. thanks for the tip.  (Translated into google translate).

To my great surprise, an instructional film by Carole has also been translated into Dutch. I had put one on, the one to make photo corners. It went a bit fast, sometimes I couldn't read everything. But I did find it a solution. (Windows 10 and google Chrome)

Great! So you can now watch any of the other tutorials in the Campus (element creation, workshop, class, etc.) in your language!

Isn't it great how technology can help us now?

Microsoft wants me to remove the translation feature. They say they can't protect me very well.
