  1. Day 2. Looking forward to Day 3.
  2. Day 7—The tubes are from the store. I always have trouble grabbing the correct little node created by the knife, so I go through a lot of trial and error. When I do manage, it's a great tool to have.
  3. Day 6 - Both of the tubes are from the store. @Cassel Carol, I ran into problems with the earlier lesson because I was working from memory. I would forget a step or do it out of order. It's akin to trying to remember a recipe you haven't used in a while. There's always an ingredient you forget or a spice you didn't remember to buy.
  4. Day 5. Learning from previous exercises, I can affirm that following directions makes things easier. My high school chemistry teacher is nodding in the "I told you so" way she had.
  5. Day—As I worked on this assignment, I thought back to my high school chemistry teacher, Mrs. Gadd. A sign behind her desk read, "If all else fails, follow directions." That sums up my experience with this exercise.
  6. Day 3 - I used this exercise to practice extractions instead of making preset shapes. Each leaf was a separate layer, and I extracted it using SELECTION/FROM VECTOR OBJECT. Of course, as AI tools improve, precise extractions will soon be a lost art. Still, it was good practice.
  7. Day 1 - Got off to a slow start this week. We've had some wicked storms in the area that knocked out power. Fortunately, we had no damage. Unfortunately, the folks weren't so lucky a few miles to the west.
  8. In Miami, anything was an excuse for a party to mark every milestone. The Latin culture is known for its all-out celebrations. A party for graduating from day care would involve 30-40 people, including abuelos, tios, and cousins you didn't know you had. It would be an all-day affair with a seemingly endless amount of food and drink, and everyone would be dressed in their finest outfits. It was a pretty amazing experience for a boy from Alabama who grew up with small birthday parties at the park.
  9. My cat, Rudy, has become increasingly arthritic, so I got pet steps to help him get on the sofa. Catnip got him to the steps, but he would only graze on the first step. I picked him up and placed him on each step until he understood how to navigate them. It took a few tries before he felt comfortable. Dogs are so much easier. Years ago, I had an arthritic dog. I patted my hand on the top step, and he walked up with no problem because he knew he would get a chin scratch for his effort. Cats are not so gullible.
  10. Day 7. I added the extra page to the previous one.
  11. Day 6. This was the first time I met Corinne, my youngest niece at the time. She still makes me smile. @Cassel I noticed that there was a glitch with the triangles on yesterday's project which was created in Affinity. I neglected to fill in the caption before converting the square to a mask, leaving holes in the top picture. In PSP, I could activate the mask layer and fill the triangle with white. I haven't figured out an easy way to fix it in Affinity. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
  12. Day 5.
  13. Day 4. The pictures aren't the best, but they bring back nice memories.
  14. Day 3. The font choice for the title is not the best for this. As we move through, I'll look for another one that fits better with all the pages.
