  1. Once a week, there is a radio show that has been on for many years. It is called Vinyl Tap. It is 2 hours of songs that are picked around a particular theme. Sometimes, it has to do with a word, sometimes, a topic, sometimes it is another particularity (like "unlikely duets"). May brings blooming flowers, warmer days, and a sense of renewal—so why not let music capture that mood on your next scrapbook page? For this challenge, use a song title or lyrics that include the words FLOWER, BLOOM, SUN, or MAY. Whether it's a joyful spring anthem, a nostalgic ballad, or a love song that mentions May, let your creativity blossom through music! Here are some song ideas to get you started: You Don’t Bring Me Flowers – Barbra Streisand & Neil Diamond Sunshine on My Shoulders – John Denver The Lusty Month of May – from Camelot Every Rose Has Its Thorn – Poison Here Comes the Sun – The Beatles What will your song of May be?
  2. If you have a good camera or a scanner, you can use that and extract the flowers one by one and you will get some very realistic elements.
  3. This is simply a photograph that was extracted. Many flowers are done in that way.
  4. Do you have pets that had to learn to do something or use something? Let's share how smart our pets are.
  5. Our newest workshop will soon start. Are you in? Are you intimidated by vectors? Are you at a loss when you need to use them? The challenge will start on May 26th. This challenge will be FREE for everyone, so spread the word. This workshop will be using Affinity apps only (for PaintShop Pro users, it it was last week) Here is the link again: https://scrapbookcampus.com/workshops/vector-a Let us know when you are registered, and share what is the biggest challenge or fear you have about using Vectors.
  6. The idea of one photo a week was quite popular in 2024, and it encouraged participants to take photos and showcase them without having to create a whole layout for them. In 2025, I will offer you a little twist on this. Again, the idea is only to showcase a single photo at a time. You can showcase them as a flashcard, emphasizing the letter (you can use these free cards as a basis to create your own). Of course, if you want a different format, you can use a polaroid frame, a slide, or a playing card (like Susan was doing in 2024). Choose the format you want, and keep it throughout the year. But just make sure to emphasize the first letter! Every 2 weeks, you will be asked to take a picture of something, at home (or around your home) that starts with a specific letter of the alphabet. The goal is just to be on the lookout for ANYTHING that can be photographed. You can stage the object however you want, or just take a picture of it in its natural environment. For example, you can showcase your favorite Mug, or your Pillow, or your Fireplace. You can practice your photography skills if you want, but you can just capture things as they are. Let's just encourage each other. This is a no-pressure thread. And if you skip a letter or two, you can always come back. You know your alphabet, so you can easily catch up whenever you need to. Let's continue with the letter J. It could be your favorite Jar of buttons, the Juicer on your counter, a cozy Jumper hanging on a hook, or that old Junk drawer everyone seems to have! What will you showcase?
  7. Let's continue this challenge for another year. We might be the ones taking pictures but we are not the feature of our layouts, so let's change that since we ARE important and have lots to say. Every month or so, the layout will be about YOU, and a prompt will be given. If you have taken the Story Week Challenge, you will find some similarities but it won't be the same. For the May layout, tell us about the houses/places you lived in. Do you have pictures of those places? If not, you can always use Google street view to gather more recent photos, if those places are still there. Do you remember the address? Do you remember some specific details about that house/apartment? As a child, maybe you perceived things differently than adults. Those could be interesting. Remember that if you want to create pages for previous prompts, those threads will stay open. There is no right or wrong order to share about YOU.
  8. You can always refresh your knowledge with PSP while waiting for the Affinity one! 🙂
  9. Drop me an email if you want a 90-day trial.
  10. Our newest workshop will soon start. Are you in? Are you intimidated by vectors? Are you at a loss when you need to use them? The challenge will start on May 19th. This challenge will be FREE for everyone, so spread the word. This workshop will be using PaintShop Pro only (for Affinity users, it will be the following week) Here is the link again: https://scrapbookcampus.com/workshops/vector Let us know when you are registered, and share what is the biggest challenge or fear you have about using Vectors.
  11. Would you be able to create pages for each year of a long period of your life? What period would it be? Would you have pages without photos? Let's chat.
  12. Drop me an email so i can send you all the instructions.
  13. From what I have researched, there is a Red Eye Removal tool, but the other functions, I have not found. I am not sure if they exist and I didn't find them or if they don't exist. HOpefully, someone even more knowledgeable in Affinity could confirm (or infirm) this.
  14. Remember that PNG will flatten to one layer. If you want to reopen with layers in PSP, you should choose the PSD option.
  15. It is likely the simplest way to go from one program to the other for the same project.
  16. Yes, but since .psd format is not native to Affinity or PSP, you might be losing some features. But if you use basic types of layers, it should work.
  17. Correct. It will include everything the program has, and will be opened the same way it was saved as long as it is in the same program.
  18. What do you have in the dropdown list? Here is mine:
  19. What do you get? Do you just not have the option or do you get an error message?
  20. If you use "save as...", it will only save in the native .afphoto format. If you want any other format (including .psd), you have to use the Export... command.
  21. The 90-day trial I can offer applies to the whole suite "at once" so yes, you could then download all the app for that trial.
  22. That is a great way to work around the limitation, but I thought you had to have purchased it to be allowed as a beta-tester???
  23. It is a new month and new projects. Show off what you are working on in May be it a scrapbook page, a collage, a tutorial, or anything else you want. We are curious and want to see, learn, and get inspired. These threads are quickly becoming a fantastic source of inspiration, support, and friendship. Keep them coming! Remember to size down your image to about 600x600 pixels and save it in .jpg format before posting it (if you are creating a double page, you can resize it to 1000 pixels in width if you don't want to post the pages separately). Here are a few guidelines for everyone: when you post a project, give as much information on your sources or techniques used. It will help others who are curious and would like to do the same. if someone uses something that you like on their page, ask where they got it. Sometimes, you can go get it too and it will be better quality than trying to extract it (as it would have been resized to post in the forum anyway). if it is something that they did from scratch, ask how they did it. It would be so helpful to everyone! if you like a photo and would like to “play with it”, ALWAYS ask permission. Sometimes, there are some limitations and the person is not allowed to let others use it. Don’t get them in trouble. Usually, people are happy to say yes (if they can) when you ask politely. And if you get permission, you might get a better-quality image than the resized image anyway.
  24. Have you ever created an album that tells the story of your life, one chapter at a time? For 2025, I’m inviting you to embark on a year-long creative challenge to document your personal timeline in a unique and meaningful way. We’re calling it the Timeline Album Challenge! The idea is simple: divide your life into 12 periods (the length of each depends on your age) and create one scrapbook page for each. Whether you include photos, memories, or simply words that describe those times, it’s up to you! By the end of the year, you’ll have a complete album that reflects your journey. For example, let's assume you are 72 years old (it just makes it easier to calculate): 0-6 years old: you can talk about your birth place, your first tooth, your first day of school 7-12 years old: you can remember some birthday parties, friends, places you visited 13-18 years old: those teen years! what were you doing, your first crush, your high school years 19-24 years old: maybe your dates, or wedding (if it happened in that time) 25-30 years old: maybe when you moved town, when your kids were born, when you purchased your first house And so on. You get the picture. Here’s how it works: One page every month: Start with your earliest memories or your childhood, and work your way to the present. You can also document specific milestones, achievements, challenges, etc. You can pick and choose any element to document. No pressure: Share your pages with us as you create them. There’s no strict commitment, and you can always catch up later if life gets busy. Make it yours: Add photos if you have them, or create pages without photos by focusing on stories, quotes, or embellishments that symbolize those moments in time. Include what was around you: seeing how some world events (or local ones) can relate to us can be interesting. What there a new fashion trend? What were the newest inventions? Any famous people that you might have heard of (or met) during that time period? This is your story to tell. Whether you want to focus on key milestones, favorite memories, or even everyday moments, it’s all about capturing what makes your timeline unique. Time for the fifth period (likely your early 20's-30's!).
