Corel recommends the expensive Wacom tablet, but I don't want to spend that much money in case I see I just can't draw with it. I know several of you use a drawing tablet so your recommendations will be very valuable to me. I'm clueless about what I need other than one that works with PSP and plays nicely with Windows. Cassel Posted June 18, 2019 Share Posted June 18, 2019 Hey Sharon. You don't need one of those expensive tablets. I have an old Bamboo Fun (it is even discontinued now) and it still works fine. I would say that just about any graphics tablet should do the trick, and since it takes time to get used to it, my suggestion is to start with something affordable. Wacom has a whole series of tablets and it is a good company. At least, that is my experience. And remember that a tablet is just another pointing device, so it should work in any program (I don't have a mouse plugged into my desktop anymore, and do everything with my tablet). libera Posted June 19, 2019 Share Posted June 19, 2019 I agree with Carole. To begin with drawing it must not be necessarily an expensive tablet. I have an older version of a Wacom (One by Wacom M CTL-672). I bought last year Corel Draw Home&Student 2018 and it was additional to the sofware (good sale on a german shop). It takes much time to get used to it and I am still not. A friend of mine works with an real older Bamboo too and is still happy about it. Sharon Wilke Posted July 2, 2019 Author Share Posted July 2, 2019 I finally received the pen tablet that I ordered. I ended up with the XP-Pen Star 03. I've got it up and running and it works with Paint Shop Pro and Painter Essentials as well. Now if I can figure out how to work with it, I'll be doing well. Many years ago (before computers came along) I dabbled at traditional drawing so I have a little training. My biggest issue right now is coordinating with the mouse and pen. I am so addicted to the mouse!!!! That's also why I hate the touchscreen option. I can't stand the dirty screen so all I do clean it over and over again LOL! I welcome any advice anyone can give! Cassel Posted July 2, 2019 Share Posted July 2, 2019 Sharon, my best suggestion is to get rid of the mouse completely for a while, just to "force" yourself to use the tablet. Also, find a comfortable placement for it. Many people use it on the right of their keyboard. I tried that, but it was not good for me, especially since it had additional buttons that were logically to be used with my left hand. I ended up placing my tablet right in front of me, on the keyboard drawer, and the keyboard is on the desk itself. That works for me. Find what works for you otherwise you won't use it as much. I use my tablet 100% on my desktop. I don't even have a mouse plugged on it. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
