Sure there will still be something like that. As for the forum itself, I would suggest that you go to the different sections and follow them, by clicking on the top of the section. I am still trying to figure this out, but I think that will notify you that there is a new thread... I think. I am looking into that at this moment. I think it can be a setting you select under your own preference. If you click on your name on the top right > Account settings > Notification settings (on the right) > Followed content > and there, select the first two options under Automatically follow content.
