  1. I am impressed with others' creations!
  2. I decided to try to make a character based on the ellipse. I am struggling to alter the shape with the pen tool. It seems that I get knocked off the vector layer I am trying to edit or I just don't have the right tool settings for the pen to easily grab the node and alter the shape or to add a node to alter the shape. Then, when I first tried to save the image after resizing, the version was terribly pixelated. Oh and I see the grey ellipse I put on the image below for a shadow, I forgot to reduce the opacity so that it would look more like a shadow!
  3. I didn't stop to think about the picture size as it was an image I received from family. I will see if I can't find a comparable source and start anew.
  4. That maybe is the problem--it was only 587 KB
  5. I thought I used the 600x600 pixels. When I went back I see that it said bicubic so then I tried smart but it did not improve the quality. I just don't know what settings are appropriate.
  6. Oh. how come this version is so poor?
  7. Here is my first genealogy related project using the template.
  8. Crazy busy here so just finished lesson one. I will upload my crazy heart and arrow. I am finding it very difficult to get a hold of a node in order to move the contour of the line. I right click edit mode once I have activated the pen tool but can't consistently adjust the line at the node the way I want. Sometimes it just moves the whole image and sometimes it looks like it is trying to draw a box ....
  9. I have been fooling around with the various techniques and am quite excited to use them in future. Thanks. Below is one of my pages.
  10. I have not had the time that I hoped to have this past week to devote to this excellent mask workshop. When I did work on it, I spent ages trying to figure out how to make the plaid. Somehow I kept missing a key element in terms of the settings when going from the sample to creating a square. However, I finally succeeded. I will upload the result which as you can see does not involve any masks--next time, perhaps. Thanks Carole.
  11. I live in Canmore Alberta. Regards!
