This was very unexpected, to say the least! Several family members ended up doing DNA tests and we found out other interesting things about our family that some will not accept, but DNA does not lie. Unfortunately, our dad died in 1988 and I wholly doubt he ever knew of our new sister. Her mother passed in 2021. I would bet your will fill your 5th g grandmother - more and more people are doing DNA tests every day and the data base is always growing. Good luck ♥

This was a fun project! Last year in June I and my other three sisters found out we had a fourth sister that we did not know existed until she happened to take a DNA test. I took one myself, as well as my other sister that lives in Australia, and sure enough we matched as half-sisters! In August, my Aussie sister came to visit when our new sister came to NC from TX to meet us. I hadn't seen my Aussie sister in 20 years! We also traveled to GA to visit some more family. It was the highlight of my year! The four of us went and got matching tattoos (middle picture)

Still getting caught up. Here is my project 2. (Layering is easier now with the help of your suggestions and the cheatsheet and putting my elements between the layers as like clipping masks in PS!) Thanks 🙂

I had so many issues trying to do lesson 3. When I tried to drag my layers up in my layers panel, they were either merging with another layer or just disappearing altogether. Also, when trying to use the selection tool for the vertical paper, it kept disappearing! I spent so much time trying to figure this out ugh!!!!! I wanted to add more layers but I just couldn't figure out why they kept being hidden when I moved them to the layer where I wanted them. Looking through everyone's work, it doesn't appear that this was happening for others so maybe I am just missing something but you'd think dragging and placing layers would be pretty straight forward, which it just wasn't for me. I guess I just need to keep practicing and playing around with it .

Carole, yes I am a lefty, or south-paw as we are sometimes known as too. Very observant! 🙂

Maybe now I can post 🙂 I've had Affinity for two years but I have not used it very much. I've been wanting to use it more so I was glad to see you offer this workshop 🙂 I have my background set to the dark theme. I have gone back and forth between floating and tabbed windows but I do not like the way it does the floating windows. I do use floating windows in PSP but it's different in Affinity. I wish Affinity did the same thing as floating windows in PSP.

I love to bake, especially during the holidays! The year before last I made Greek Kourabiedes, something I've never made before. This recipe used an ingredient I had never cooked with before, Orange blossom water. They turned out soooooo melt-in-your-mouth good!! They remind me of Russian Wedding Cookies. I may make them again this year. I will also add, I stored them in an airtight container then forgot about them until the following Christmas when I was going to use it for other cookies and these were still in there lol. I tried one and they tasted as fresh as they day I made them! I am so impressed with how this stacking food container kept my cookies, it's very old-fashioned but I love it! I made several kinds of cookies and was able to transport them easily to my mom's for our Christmas dinner.

Thank you, Carole.
