  1. Well, the workshop has come to an end with Day 7. What a lot of fun. I was surprised that with no template for Day 7 to start my thinking that I had some difficulty coming up with an idea that stayed with the waterfall theme. In the end I abandoned the masks and created a cascade of photos to finish. I have enjoyed seeing all the stories that the participants shared with their photos and words. Until next time.
  2. Well, here is my day 6 entry. We're almost at the end of this fun project. One more day to make the best magazine page of the bunch. There are so many great ideas in this forum. It's a joy to see them and get new ideas for designing meaningful images that catch people's attention.
  3. I have put a different twist on the Day 5 lesson. So far all the waterfalls I have used are of the natural variety. But as I was going through my photo library I noticed a picture that I took as an amusement park. I realized that we also have man made waterfalls. Now I also understand how to make and manipulate masks better.
  4. Day 4, the second page
  5. Day 4, the first page.
  6. My day 2 page. I am trying some things a bit different using the elements of lesson 3 and learning a lot more about PSP. Merci, Cassel.
  7. Staying with the waterfall theme, here is my first page. It's a little wordy but I am trying to make it look like and article that might appear in a magazine.
  8. Hello Scappers and PSP Users, I'm liking all the examples already shown on this forum. It gave me the idea of using waterfalls as a theme. I live in mountain country so waterfalls large and small are plentiful. When I take the two hour drive to visit my son's family, there are three waterfalls all worth visiting along the way. So naturally I have lots of pictures of them. Hopefully you will enjoy seeing them through this evolving magazine article.
  9. In a recent visit to Halifax, we visited a cemetery that has victims of the Titanic disaster buried there. It got me interested in learning more about how the city and the people of Halifax stepped up to help. Halifax was only 800 miles from where the Titanic sank, so ships based there were used to find survivors and recover victims. It warms my heart to read that people are so willing to help others when disaster strikes. This is true everywhere in the world.
  10. Corrie, I love your recognition of the Squamish First Nation. In the modern world they are now headquartered in North Vancouver, British Columbia and there is a town nearby called Squamish, but the road signs on the way to the town say 'Sk̲wx̲wú7mesh'. I did not know that their traditional territory went so far south. Well done on the image.
  11. Carole, I just looked through my Scrapbooking Project folder and found a folder called 'First Try - Love Theme'. I don't know for certain if it was a Boot Camp but it was my first introduction to your tutorials. The files I created are dated Feb 2019.
  12. Wow! Daniel, your calendar is full of terrific pictures nicely assembled to match each month of the year with the seasons. I especially like your winterization of the months.
  13. Thanks, Cassel for your note about the Artsy masks. They certainly make the area around the image more interesting. Also I learned a lot from your Day 3 video. The information on using the Character Map will be useful in other programs too. Day 4 you introduced the Transparency Lock, so great. I am waiting expectantly for what will come next. I am learning so much. Merci. Here are my March and April projects with elements from all 4 days.
  14. Well I have Day 1 calendar pages done. I used the day 2 Background instructions to liven the pages up. I also highlighted some dates as those are family birthdays that need to be remembered. These first two photos are from my library but were not shot in the wild. Hence the sad face on the gorilla. I struggled a bit this the mask until I realized from all the other submissions that they were designed to show through outside the frame. I like the effect.
  15. I'm OK now. It turns out that background colour is the same as the colour when a letter is selected. When I was did a background Fill with a different colour, the selected text in the month layer appeared. My bad.
  16. Hi All, I could use some help with the Day 3 instructions. I am using PSP 2023 and I cannot select the Month as shown in the video. I bring a calendar blank into PSP and click on the Month layer. I open that month layer group so that both are selected and blue. Then I click on the T for text and the entire month (May in this case) is selected in a Pick box (see Image Text 1). I have to double click on box to get rid of it. Then a vertical bar appears as in 'Text 2' but I cannot select the whole month or a single letter. Any suggestions on what I need to do?
  17. I agree with Christina. The images you all have posted are super. What I like especially are the chit-chats where the techniques used to make the images are discussed. I learn so much from them. Now I will have to try some of them to create an image for this forum.
  18. When our grandchildren were still young and came to stay with us, we always found ways to keep them busy without resorting to mobile phones and tablets. On the dining room table we would have a jigsaw puzzle that we could work on together. I would sit and work on a puzzle and before long they would join me. That was good for having light conversation and doing something together. The other thing we did with them was play board and card games. First we started with the simple ones like Crazy Eights, and Snakes and Ladders. Now that they are older, we still play games together but more complex ones. We are lucky that they still enjoy coming over and doing things with us instead of sitting on the couch with their devices. For full disclosure, now that they are teenagers, they do get time to use their devices, but we still play board games after dinner.
  19. Quite a while ago we bought a single serve coffee machine. There are only two of us so making a carafe of coffee was a big waste. However then coffee machines use coffee pods that are not really environmentally friendly. They are just coffee in a small plastic packages. So I got reusable coffee pods and fill them with coffee. There is nothing to throw away except used coffee grounds and they go in the compost. The second machine is a soda drink making machine. Now we no longer buy soft drinks in cans; less waste in recycling. I like the reusable paper towels ideas. Cool to see you husband at the serger.
  20. Here is an image that sort of meets the two picture criteria, as the upper left image is the photo that served as the start of the silhouette. Several months ago Carole did a tutorial on creating a silhouette with another picture inside it. I was intrigued and used it to create this image that tells the story of this adventure in an interesting way. The bear adventure was at a river in Klahoose First Nations territory and the image of the salmon jumping was taken in a river close to where I live in British Columbia. Thank Nikon for long lens cameras.
  21. Thank you for your nice thoughts regarding the model I finished for my friend Ron. The work had a spiritual element to it. And it reminded me of the time last year when I was visiting my granddaughter in Victoria BC. We went to Butchart Gardens during tulip time and I was super lucky to get this picture of the fountain. All the nozzles in the fountain are constantly moving and I have lots of nice ordinary pictures of it. But this one must have been created with the help of my guardian angel. Sometimes we just get lucky and get a great image.
  22. My friend Ron and I have been wooden model builders for years. These models usually take several years to complete as we always have other family responsibilities that are more important than hobbies. Anyway in the case of this model of a Danish fishing trawler, Ron bought is over 10 years ago but never really got too far into it. Unfortunately Ron recently passed away and his family asked me if I wanted to finish the model. I agreed and have worked on it for the last seven months. It in now finished. I even renamed the boat in his honour. The sad part of this story is that now I will have to work on future projects without my lifelong friend. The nice part of being part of being a member of Scrapbook Campus is that I've learned how to create meaningful images of my DYI projects to share with family and friends. Although I do not use all the nice add-ons I see in many of the works of other members, I still enjoy seeing all your work as it motivates me to continue.
  23. With all this talk about flights in helicopters, how about a sharing some of the photos you took during those flights, if any. Here is one of mine. Our most memorable flight was over Mt Saint Helens in 2005. This was 25 years after its major eruption. I found some images online to show what it looked like before and after. Then I added my photo from the helicopter flight over the valley. It was wonderful to see how much had been restored by Mother Nature. We even saw some deer wandering near the river. Life goes on.
  24. How fortunate the timing of your last Scrapbook email. It arrived just a day before the episode with the Miramichi zip-line was aired here. We watched it last night and it sure looks like a beautiful location. Now I have another thing to put on my bucket list; to go zip-lining and visit more of New Brunswick. I was in New Brunswick as a teenager. I was an Air Cadet and learned to fly at Saint John Airport. Then for my solo cross-country flight I was sent to fly from Saint John to Moncton to Frederickton and back to Saint John. I saw a lot of trees from the air but I didn't really see much else. So a future trip to see it from the ground is in order.
  25. As suggested by Sue Thomas I have added shadows to the images on this project. I also learned that adding drop shadows as a new layer really helps. When I first tried to add a drop shadow, it wasn't to my liking. But another try just added a second shadow ti the first not a replacement. Then I saw the little box to add the drop shadow as a new layer. Now I can experiment until I get the effect I want. I also changed the images to the proper size as outlined in the instructions. My first go had some images the wrong size (too large). With the resizing the project looked wonky so I had to adjust the images to make it more balanced. Thanks for the learning opportunity.
