Very nice layout but the text on top of the post card is not very realistic IMO. You can fix it by having the text go around the postcard or resizing the postcard a bit smaller.

Nice catch.  I didn't think about that.  The postcard addition was a last minute after-thought and I missed it.

  2. Project 3.  I know it is difficult to read the postcard at 600 dpi so I'm throwing in a small size copy of that element.

The angel(s) came from Janet Kemp,   The background was from a Tutorial Project, the striped paper was a modification of a Flolinette-PBS paper, the font was Blackletter 686 BT.  The background for the bigger text is an original photo taken while we were steaming FAST through the Red Sea to get on station for the start of the Desert Storm campaign which I heavily modified, by changing hues, and mirroring a selection (small copy attached of original).

@Daniel Hess  I am not sure how to 'quote' but thank you for the nautical tubes, they work perfectly!!   Also thank you for your kind  comment on the seagull - out of bounds was not what I was thinking - but I will take it 🙂

A couple of ways to "quote".  Highlight the sentence or piece of text to which you want to reply and watch for a pop up that says "quote selection" under the highlighted area and if you click that it will open a reply with the quote.  Or under the "post" there is a + sign and the word quote.  When you click that a new reply opens with the entire previous post, photo and all in which you can reply.

The background is a photo taken from the jetty to the island with a light blend mode (I do like the way the blend modes work in 2023!)  I added in the 2 boats, seagulls and sprinkles.

I love the way you have the bird walking the photo edge.  An "out of bounds" effect without actually having to trick folks' minds LOL.

  5. I said a couple of days ago, I was going to improve my nautical scatters picture tube and share it with everyone.  Here is the results of that.

My McAfee hiccuped when I double clicked the link below although it is OK.  I suggest you copy the link and paste it into your browser address line to get the download. Place the PspTube file into the "documents/Corel PaintShop Pro/2022 (or your version)/Picture Tubes/" folder.  The other file is just an image where I set the size at 30 and painted around the canvas (over a white background layer) as a sample of using the Tube.  Noticed can't change the default "size" after you have exported the tube...I think the default is 100.  The Images/paintbrush stamps were originally sized at 100.

PS...This is assuming you are interested in a nautically themed picture tube to create some scatters.  It's not exactly generic but good for anything that is boat or ship or ocean themed...or perhaps some other categories.

Our only "projects" so far have been #1-our Workspace, #2- the Sandwich/Table, and #3-New Kid on the Block. Where are you getting the other layouts? The 3 items I mentioned are the only ones released for this Bootcamp so far, as far as I know.

I've not been getting emails for these; I never officially registered...I've been going directly into the lessons via the Workshops Menu under Diamond membership.  I guess I've jumped ahead.  I'll slow my roll.

Actually, Day 1 was the PSP Workspace layout; Day 2 was the Sandwich; Day 3 is New Kid on the Block. Don't forget, this workshop goes for 14 days so it skips days between actual layouts. My email this morning from Carole said Day 4 was for taking a breather. hth

LOL.  I've been trying to keep up !  I guess I've posted four actual projects so far and a screen shot of my dual monitor layout.

  8. @Cassel  I found an abr file called 20 Nautical Brushes quite awhile back and imported them.  Using that and some guides installed, I "stamped" five of them onto a small image to create a pattern.  See attached.  I also used the brushes to create a picture tube that I called nautical scatters.  I took an anchor and a life buoy (same one as in the pattern) and made five SMALL copies of each, then magic wanded each and filled with a brighter color.  Then I exported as a picture tube.  I was working on the project that you said required (and demonstrated) scatters. I'm going to do that picture tube again but use MORE of the brushes and make a more random picture tube out of them.  When done, I'll zip the file and post a link for it on here for any that would like it.  I've gotten the day/project numbers mixed up apparently.  I guess if you count the Sandwich as day 1 then this one was day 2-single photo and the one with my granddaughter was day3-adventure.

You did GREAT.  I wish I had thought to put a stirring spoon on mine for the coffee.  Your background reminds me of MANY picnic tablecloths that my mother would use over my growing up years.  Keep it up !

  10. At some time during the bootcamp, I'll probably try to incorporate this photo I took in Santa Maria, Spain of this gentleman.  Of course at the time I was using a 0.3 Megapixel Sony Mavica camera that used a 3.5 inch floppy disk as film.  I have a ton of photos taken with that camera during my navy days.  I've tried amping up some of those photos to 300 dpi (turning them into huge photos) but even hard for PSP's AI resizing capability to overcome some of the resolution difficulties.  It doesn't do enough to let some of the other photo fixes to truly do a good job.  See the other photo LOL for a look at the camera (and the photographer).

  11. Tried going in through the Workshops (I am logged in as Diamond Member) and for the Bootcamp it keeps asking me for a password and when I type in my password it just goes back to asking for a password.  Just to make sure I tried one of the other workshops and went right in as normal.  I'm sorry but maybe there is too much solar activity and it's messing with my electronics.  That weirdness with the paintbrush last week (and continuing) and now this.  'Shrugging my shoulders'.

    Lesson #1

This is the setup for my workspace and I have the Materials Palette floating. I work on a laptop and although it has a relatively big screen I have to scroll much and by having the Materials floating I can move it out of the way and still have the Layers Palette in full view. Further more I have a couple of shortcuts on my toolbar for the functions I use most, which probably will be different for everybody and the same goes for the Layers palette.

This screenshot shows one of the photos that I'm planning to use. I intend to use more flower photos from my last visit to California.

Pretty cool.  I recently added a second monitor to my set up so here is a current screen shot.  It helps alot to be able to watch one of the tutorials or master classes on the left, while working along with it on the right.

  13. It sort of tells the story itself but there is some additional "back-story".  When my siblings and I were VERY young, my mom's sister, Aunt Molly was into ceramics and made each of the three (at that time) kids a figurine.  She painted them and made sure the hair color was correct for each kid.  Mine was the baseball kid.  (PS, my brother Rick's is in one of the pictures, the blond astronaut).  After my Mom passed away in 2005, I came back into possession of "my" figurine".  Also, I had always loved the three gold leaf paintings they picked up in Spain and I now have them displayed in my home.  One item each inner corner with two additional photos, showing the item displayed in my parent's home back in the day, and one showing the item displayed currently in my home.  Additional note...with the figurine, when I joined the Navy, my Mom incorporated it into the home decor whereas previously it had always been in my bedroom.  Also, my grandmother made each kid a ceramic lamp with the same hair color thing (I think Molly and she were attending a ceramics class/workshop together at the time).  Mine was unfortunately broken at some point in the past.

  14. Most current project.  My wife is a Feng Shui Master (studied with Joseph Yu in Toronto) and at some point about 25 years ago, she commissioned an artist to design a logo for her.  The artist came up with two and she chose and mostly has used one of them over the years.  She is now into woodworking and is making kitchen cutting boards.  She wanted to turn her logo into a branding iron (type "branding iron for wood" into amazon.c o m).  I am turning her logo into a preset shape outline that can be used to make the branding iron.  Obviously it won't have the yin/yang COLOR scheme but I can make the outline so it is definitely HER logo and can be turned into a "one-dimensional" (?) tool to "sign" her woodwork.  Here is the logo I'm starting with.
