This week, like all the other weeks have simply flown by. Mother nature never disappoints. From one day to the next her mastery of applying her palette to the landscape and skies above, is an ever changing wonder. I was lucky enough to get another afternoon out on the lake in the kayak. A glorious 21c. Hopefully I will get at least one more afternoon on the water before the kayak goes away for the winter. An old chapel hiden away amongst the trees. Before the dam was constructed back in 1965, I believe, the chapel was over a mile away from the shallow South Saskatchewan River. Over the years, and as the lake rises, the chapel is nigh on the lake shoreline. You ahve to pay to look around the chapel, and Hitchcock's hideaway cabin. I havd found access to it via the shore.4 points

Maniacs challenge this week was diamonds. How could I resist??? I made an alphabet(caps only for now) using a CF font called "Diamonx." I added my diamond that I had made into a tube by hand since I wanted to able to move them around. I used the vectorpaint script with a brush from my stars stash. I also converted the script to a raster a blurred it a little. I also blurred the stars a little. The background was used so that the letters would be visible and is from a picture that a used a FF filter and then a multiply blend mode. I have been following FF on FB and am finding some really nice filters.3 points

Here's my Week Forty One for Sunday Oct 20 - My two daughters and I did a day trip to Mohonk Mountain House resort in Ulster County on Wed Oct 16. It is a huge hotel and recreation complex constructed in the early 1900s by the Smileys, a Quaker family from Maine. There were originally 2 beautiful quarries, Mohonk and Minnewaska, which they owned and they eventually added 17,000 acres to preserve the land in perpetuity. The family still operates Mohonk as a resort though the two hotels on Minnewaska burned down. This is probably one of the most famous areas to be photographed in Ulster County, NY. You can see the hotel in the distance on the left. My daughter, Debbie, took this photo when they were hiking.3 points

Besides enjoying the mild weather we had this week I have been playing with the enormous amount of supplies from Anna Aspnes. First it took a while to sort through the whole bunch and watch the videos. She works with Photoshop and not all the techniques from the videos is 100% appliable to Paintshop but most of the supplies and PSD files can be used. I tried to make an artsy layout with some of the papers/overlays/ brushes and 3 of my photos from a walk in our woodland park this week. I'm not 100% happy with what I got but wanted to show it anyway before we start with the calendar workshop which will take most of my time in the coming weeks. I used a lot of blendmodes on the different parts of the layout. It certainly is another way to work and I'll have to do more of this.2 points

I made this following a tutorial in the Beginners Workshop which is now defunct. If @Cassel think it's okay for me to share it, I will.2 points

I'm in too. 🙂 Of course it will be an Outlander calendar, but maybe a second one too about trips we made this year, we have seen so many nice places! 🙂2 points

att mail through Yahoo mail cannot be recovered. Is it possible to change my email to doonya43@gmail.com. I really am not fond my att mail account, one reason being that I cannot add it my iPhone mail accounts. I find gmail much easier to use.2 points

First of all, come and say HI once you register for this workshop. We want to know who else will be there, on our side to encourage us. Every page we will make will be different, based on each others' photos, stories, and preferences but we can all get inspired by everyone's projects. The workshop will start on October 21st. You might want to chitchat during the workshop, but you will want to wait until the end, once all the lessons are done since you will keep working through them all during the seven days. Now, let's get ready! (if you missed the registration link or if you found this thread before I announced it, HERE it is)1 point

ok. I'll wait a little while, sign out and then sign back in. Thank you, I think that will solve my problems of not getting your emails.1 point

We can address that. I can make the changes now, and reach out for any lose ends to fix.1 point

Thanks, @Corrie Kinkel for the info on the Outdoor Cafe artist. I redid my layout to acknowledge that the painting was Vincent Van Gogh's. And then I realize that I hadn't been acknowledging the photographers when I use family's pics. So I went back to the recent layouts and did so. Won't post them here, but I will be more mindful of that in the future. On all the ideas on logos - I haven't begun to think of what I want to do along with the initials (I won't use my name - just initials). I have seen Susan Ewert's, @Lynda DiGregor and I remember Annie Tobin's.1 point

In the backend, it states that it was sent on October 9th. Can you check your spam from back around that date? You should get another one on Sunday. Let me know if you don't get it (and yes, check your spam folder too).1 point

Great Mary and I think you will enjoy it. For me it is the 5th time and I love this workshop!!! The calendars are very fine gifts, but because of the work involved I only give them to family and friends who appreciate them. I have to make 3 versions in 3 different languages, of course the layouts and the photos will be the same. Some of my friends have already asked if there comes a new calendar this year.1 point

I haven't scrapped for over a month. Got deep into my genealogy and counted cross stitch then was on vacation for 8 days. There were some awesome photos posted on FB of the northern lights in Ohio (which I missed again!) so I borrowed them and made a layout. It will be inserted in my vacation album since I reference missing them again! I did note that the photos were not mine on the layout. Template is Photo Palooza #430 by Cindy Schneider and the kit used was Stargazer Aurora by Meagan's Creations both available at Sweet Shoppe Designs. The font is Freehand591 BT. The word art was actually a sticker in the kit that I used a bevel on it.1 point

I only have a very short answer, we do not have any variation of Thanksgiving at all! However there is a religious link; on the first Wednesday in November there is a church service where thanks will be given for the harvest. The produce will be brought into the church and there is a festive display of all the grains, apples, pears, potatoes, beef, etc. Everything is then distributed amongst the people in need. It is thought that this probably is the background for Thanksgiving. The first settlers brought it to America and Canada.1 point

This picture is on the wall of one of our favorite restaurants. It is unsigned - a print of a painting. I just started playing around with it and how to display it. Decided on doing a vertical format this time. the picture is in a mask from Jessica Dunn - April 2024 challenge mask. I put a cream color mat behind it and a frame around that of Cass stitching. The background is made up of 4 layers - white, bluish purple, picture, overlay of RileyBgraphicsLondonFog7 from CF and colored a bluish purple using HSL and blend mode of multiply. the other layers have different blend modes as well. Several of you use your "logo" on your layouts. My daughter was telling me that my graphics designer daughter-in-law had said that everyone needs to put their initials or logo on all their work. Maybe it's time for me to develop one.1 point

Because it's October and I just enjoy this month so much, I have to keep making some layouts to showcase the colours around. The photo is mine from last fall at the dog park in town. The papers in the background are from Jessica Dunn. There are Foto Glows from Anna Aspnes behind the framed image. The frame is a cluster from Melo Virjhof at Digital Scrapbook from a while back. And a bunch of other bits and bobs from my Autumn stash.1 point

kasany, I like very much how you used a photo as the background. Did you use a Blend Mode or other technique to make it look like this? I also love the other photos, especially the sunset ones (or sunrise?). No matter how often we see it, I think sunrise and sunset are magical. Cassel's Alpha fits the theme perfectly; I have used it a few times. She has tons of beautiful Alphas as freebies.1 point

Something totally different and not what I make often. This card is for my very dear friend who will be turning 80 in a couple of weeks. It is just a miracle she is still among us and I have sent her a card every week when she had chemo with a lot of complications in the early days of the covid pandemic. She is doing well but has a lot of side effects from the ongoing treatment. She always loves birthdays with all that comes with it like pendants, flags, garlands around her chair, balloons and so on. Of course I could have made a nice card with some flowers but I have sent so many like that to her that I wanted something different this time. I have a couple of balloons in my stash and changed the colors to my liking for this card. Duplicated each of the recolored ones, put 80 between the two layers and reduced the opacity of the top balloon. In my stash are some translucent balloons with confetti in them, so I made confetti with cass-ConfettiMaker script also round and in the same colors. That confetti in a smaller size is inside the text too. It will be a double card with my logo on the back, probably with a small balloon as well. My birthday wishes will be handwritten inside. I sincerely hope she will like it.....1 point

Just playing around with pieces from the Anna Aspnes freebies. And wishing my fellow PSPers a Happy Thanksgiving (well, the Canadian ones anyway). The only bit I "created" was the beaded string effect. It's an idea taken right from AA. I used her strings and the alpha beads come from Marisa Lerin (I started making my own and then gave up!). Oh, and the text is something I made some time ago, just added the Canadian flag to it.1 point

Lab 13 Mod 5. did'nt really want to do this, but finally tried out the fringe paper. Made several of them - three in Mardi Gras colors (which I used for this layout), two in Halloween colors and two in Valentine colors? The picture was taken by my daughter and is actually after Mardi Gras but in February. The font is from Creative Fabrica (where all my specialty fonts are from) and is called Adventure Island ScriptRough. The mask I got sometime back and might have been from CF or NicePng.1 point

I am so happy that it's October! I love this month and the colours it brings, and I could make layouts all day long. Trouble is, I don't take many pix so I have to rely on finding them somewhere. In this case, the photographer's name (at bottom of layout) is a local guy (Windsor, Ontario) who travels around and creates some great images. I lifted this one from his recent FB post. I've started delving into the Anna Aspnes goodies that I downloaded and most of the background is from her designs. There's some Katie Pertiet elements in there too. The camera brad was in my Autumn stash, and the transparent label is from dhariana and I forget what site that was from. So basically, I did nothing more than make frames for the image, then just shuffled a bunch of stuff around! But I enjoyed doing it! Blending and adjusting, and tweaking and moving, and more blending....1 point

I will be there as well and it will be my 5th calendar workshop. When I'm finished with all the months I'll print the calendar and use it for some gifts. One of the recipients of the last 4 has already inquired if there will be a new one and if so what the theme is going to be! I have used up most of my flower photos in the earlier versions, so this year it will be all about mushrooms; I have quite a lot of photos about those.1 point

I do like calendars and look forward to something new for 2025. We had a workshop in November of 2023 when I created a 2024 series for the wildlife of Botswana. I've also been re-using those templates for my 2024 Wild Cat Calendar that I do every month. The first calendar I created here on the Campus featured the TV show, Downton Abbey for 2023, intended for my granddaughter Anna for Christmas that year and I recall one of my classmates here did one for the show Outlander. I'll be looking for a new theme for this calendar workshop.1 point

Instead of 12x12, this time, I created a layout with 8,5x11 dimensions. It does feel unusual, but I am trying to get used to it. I tried to use some of Anna Aspnes's freebies (MegaPack Plus Class) and elements from other designers, some of whom I recently got to know. EDITED: I got this mega freebie thanks to a tip from Julie, who shared where to find it on a post. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Credits: Cassel: Old Book Alphabet 2019 freebie Anna Aspnes MegaPack Freebie: Papers: AASPN_ArtPlayPaletteHeath_SolidPaper3 and 5 Paper Texture: AASPN_PaperTextures4_2 and 4_9 Others: AASPN_ArtPlayPaletteHeath_ArtStroke2 -- AASPN_ArtPlayPaletteHeath_Transfer7 -- AASPN_FotoGlowMix1_2 -- AASPN_MilieuWordARTMix1_WTHistory -- AASPN_UrbanThreadz3_9 Lynn Grieveson Frames & Borders: lgrieveson-worn-photo-edges1-4 & lgrieveson_retro_pop_1 Rachel Jefferies Bloghop freebie and from Art In Simplicity kit rjefferies_portraits_BLOGHOP-stamp (freebie) rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-flower10 rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-messystamp04 rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-sentiment01 rjefferies-AIS-artistry03-trinket-staple1 point
