  1. Just a really quick layout. I stopped at the vet's office to pick up a med for one of the dogs. These are the two creatures who live in the clinic and sprawl anywhere they want. But, like cats everywhere, a box is just too tempting to resist. Cuteness overdose. Di Hiller kit for cats provided most of the elements. Cass- Slipped in Corner 1 for photo and Word Frame v3.

  2. Here is the first paper I made with the Random Brush script: https://creationcassel.com/blog/8508/new-script-random-brush-print/?doing_wp_cron=1723429245.4091949462890625000000 I love this script, as I do all of Carole's scripts 😄 Feel free to use!

  3. And this one is for my youngest granddaughter who is starting middle school tomorrow. For the background I used the freebie back to school from CF and the flute from by stash. The rest of the elements is from digitalscrapbook.com For her a good luck on the book.

  5. This topic was a trip down memory lane! I was 6 in 1955 when tv broadcasting made a start in the Netherlands. It was in black&white on one channel only for a couple of hours every day. There were not many people that had bought a television set, they were quite expensive and people didn't really know what to think of it. It was very common to go to friends or family that had taken the plunge and owned such a modern set, to get a chance to see it for yourself. For our family it became a sort of social gathering on Saturday evenings and I was even allowed to stay up late. Later came a children's hour on the free Wednesday afternoon. There was a presenter called "tante Hannie" (auntie Hannie) who introduced the show and you could even write to her and got an answer as well. I remember 2 shows very vividly and put the photos I could find on the net on my layout. There was an official postmark stamp and I made one with my own script. The background has a circle overlay (tut in this month's lab) and I started out with a template from Alflt June 2019 Fair and kept some of it and changed a lot. The tv tag was made with the leather tag script that I had for a long time and the Adventure freebies reminded me of that script! The double bow was made with the double bow script and I kept it in my stash. Title font is Lucky Retro with a bevel, the cluster is by Jessica Dunn and the paint splashes were in my stash. The red bow was a sample freebie from Carole for one of the bow scripts and I used it because it matches somewhat the clowns bow.

  6. I'm working on Week 31 - this is a screenshot of a video produced by the Huguenot Street Historical Society and when I saw it, I was delighted to see my own name, Terwilliger. It seems my ancestor was a blacksmith in the New Paltz, NY, area. The photo quality was fair but I ran it through PSPs Effects/Photo Effects/Time Machine and chose the Platinum developing process which also added the frilly border which also shows up on some old photos I have here. PSP explained the Platinum process gave superior prints but because it was exorbitantly expensive was not used very often.

  7. That is really blue! We had a house shaking thunder and lightening storm this morning . The the skies cleared and it's a blue sky, but not as blue and glorious as yours!

  9. I've never used Shutterfly's software. I do everything on my computer and upload to their website. A lot of the services do have their apps to download because so many people take photos with their phones (and don't save to computers), so it is easier for them to make books. Even Persnickety Prints has an app they push for people to use to get their photo prints

  10. Although it does not have a 12x12 option, Staples.ca does books. That is where I printed the book for my grandson. For him, it was a smaller size. They have a 8x8 for square but if you want a bit larger, they have 12x9. Not exactly what you are looking for, but one option if you don't find anything else.

  11. What a great message to send your granddaughter. Love the colourful images you used. Starting high school is so exciting! I can almost remember it.

  12. Funny how western themes have re-emerged into our lives. TV series and movies. My niece likes to think she's some gal in Yellowstone! You did a great job on the knotted rope!

  13. I've been working on this for days and finally decided I was done. One of the themes for my gaming group recently had to do with cowgirls so I "borrowed" part of my co-admin's pic. The knotted rope was certainly a challenge. I watched Cassel's video several times. The entire layout was a challenge. Every time I changed one thing, I went back and changed something else. Maybe the Western theme wasn't for me. lol

  16. When I was young (grade 4, I think) we lived on a lake with not a lot of other homes (let alone full-time residents). We only got two channels on TV and Sunday night was the Wide World of Disney. Often there would be a show that was two hours so we had to wait a whole week to see the second part since it was only a 1 hour show. On one Sunday we watched "The Parent Trap" (with Haley Mills playing 2 rolls as twin sisters) part one. The next week my brother and I had our baths early so we could be all set to watch part two. That night we had a big storm and the power went out, so we missed the second part. It would be more than 20 yrs later that I saw the second 1/2. The Wide World of Disney was my favorite TV show. I remember one Disney short called "In the Bag" where a park ranger enlisted the help of the park bears to clean up the park...to this day me and several people my age can remember, "pick it up, put it in the sack, bump bump" (those aren't the correct words, but similar to that). At work anytime someone says "pick that up" my co-worker and I say, "put it in the sack, bump bump". the youngsters think we are loopy.

  17. This week I visited the Textile Museum in Tilburg with my cousin. The museum is in the original factory from 1870 and most of the more modern looms are in working order and produce cloth for tea-towels, napkins, tablecloth etc. You can see and hear them when they are working; the noise of 1 or 2 machines already is deafening and in those days the workers had no noise protection. It was an interesting day; we learned about the whole process from wool, cotton or silk to the end product. We both had been there 30 to40 years ago with our children but it was nice to see all the new exhibits that has been added over the years. Luckily there was a coffee corner too.

  18. The way I see it, and please, I'm not being critical, only my observation, and the way I work. I feel that all the early tutorials, mastercalsses, creative scrap, and blog has covered the majority of techniques and tools. Of course newer versions introduced new tools, all of which you have addressed. It seems to me that in many of the newer tuts, masterclasses you are going over what you have already covered. Also in my view many of the questions asked in the Q&A, are answered in previous tuts etc. It appears to me it is far easier to ask the question rather than spend some time to search out the answer in the wealth of information provided. Whilst, doing a search you get to see and pick up little things along the way. The campus has grown beyond anyones expectations. In all honesty, I find the it all overwhelming on occassions. Adding some references to past posts and classes is a great idea.

  19. Here is the shot of a female Robin sunbathing on the 30 July, with the preening gland exposed, opening dorsally at the base of the tail feathers. For those that are interested, I will post the photo on facebook for better viewing.

  20. My hand is getting to shakey to do a decent job drawing with the pen tool using a mouse these days. Athough I used a cass rope, It looks more like string, and hides the shakiness. I went with a goldy metalic title. Created the curly streamer, placing it under the flowers. I will remove the flowers, streamer and knots to make room for some info at a later date. I have only ever photographed 2 birds with their uropygial gland exposed. Also known as the preen gland. It secretes an oily fluid which the bird uses in preening its feathers.

  22. I've been hoping to see this technique presented for a while. It was covered in the March 2024 Q&A, so I had to give it a go. I haven't posted anything for some time, just so bloody busy! Too many irons in the fire, as the saying goes. And no inspiration at all! Every layout I have tried, I have deleted as not worth posting. I do work a lot with old photos, not just my family but others' too. This one is a favourite of mine, from 1910, not my family. The styles, the looks on their faces, the general joy of the moment - are just captivating (to me). So what better material to work with than something I have worked with? Not entirely pleased with the result, but I feel I can post without cringing. It's a start with that split frame effect.
