It looks like the regular forum is now working fine. You can post your projects in this thread

If you want to leave your sandwich here, it is ok. However, it would be more fun if you could repost your sandwich there so everything will be together.

Also, please, repost your Project #1 in the regular forum. There will be a reason for it! 🙂

Rene, your layer has to be a PIXEL layer to manipulate it. If you PLACED an image, it would be an IMAGE pixel. Right-click on it, and rasterize it. Then, you will be able to delete sections only.

I am glad that we have this alternative forum for you to post your projects and questions, and for me to give you feedback and answer questions as needed.

For those who have not yet been able to install the 90-day trial, keep at it, or connect with Affinity support. I was told that someone has been helping a few of you. I also heard that they are looking into a simpler approach. I am waiting for details and will share them with you as soon as I can.

Linda W; hopefully, you will be able to set your 90-day trial. I am sure you will get an answer by the morning. To save the image as a jpg, in Affinity you have to Export it. The only format it SAVES AS, is the afphoto format. All others are available through File > Export.

Susan: glad that you are all set up now

Angela: unlike PSP, Affinity does not seem to have the option for larger text or icons.

Cristina: did you try to reach out to their tech support? You might end up talking to someone who has helped others for the exact same issue.

Minka: it looks like you have two different logins! Nice open face sandwich.

Rene: happy to see you are already comfortable in choosing some panels you like. It is a good thing that your sandwich is digital: no side effect! By the way, I checked for your “missing” long post, thinking it might have been caught in the spam filter, but it is not the case. No idea where it went. Sorry.

Ann: I bet you are going to tweak your workspace as you start using the program. That is normal. I am sure you took a while to set your PSP workspace to what you use now.

Julie: I was sooooo happy that I had not uninstalled the old forum! Not the best solution but definitely A solution.

Suzy: you are finally set with that image that was not cooperating?

Raymond: I don’t have any experience with astrophotography or even with specific photo editing. If anything, you will learn ways to showcase your wonderful photos!

Daniel: Affinity does not have much as far as accessibility (like larger icons and text). Can you share a screenshot of your workspace to see how different it is from mine? I didn’t customize it much at all. Your no-frill sandwich is quite good.

Marie-Claire: There is no “medium” grey for the whole workspace, only for the area around the photo, which you can get through the User Interface. How did I know that you should showcase Poncho? Bon appetit with your sandwich!

Corrie: The forum (and the site in general) will convert any png file to jpg format; that is to save space as files are larger when in png format. Several tools are quite similar to PSP (I guess most graphic programs) but their icons are different and their grouping too. That is one thing we will need to adjust to.

Raymond: If you don’t want your bacon, can I have it? I LOVE it!

Saara: Welcome to the Campus. Isn’t it annoying that the first day you join us, we have gremlins in the forum? With all the “campers” in here, we might convert you to a scrapbooker by the end of the Bootcamp 🙂

Linda R: for the time being, don’t worry about the gallery. Just in case there are gremlins there too, let’s wait until the forum is fixed. The gallery and the forum are on the same platform so gremlins MIGHT walk around there too. It is perfectly ok to upload them here, in this thread!

Carolyn: Yes, PLACE is one of those commands that you can use to add an image to another one. You can also use the basic copy/paste from one image to the other to do the same thing.

Continue to post your projects, even if you are “behind”. You will have plenty of time to catch up.

Rene, even if you use the dark background (since there is no medium), you can adjust the Background Grey level inside the Assistant > User Interface. It just changes the grey around the image, not the toolbars and panels, but it MIGHT help?

Suzy, if I am not mistaken, you have the wrong TAB on top. I am not 100% sure but i think that if you click on another tab, you will see the flower in the “working canvas”. What you see in the bottom right is inside a panel and that would be just the preview. Is that possible?

Making the background light helped but can you change the size of the words/letters to make them larger.

From what I know, no. You can’t change the size of the text or icons in Affinity.

Really? I have not worked on the store format for a couple of years now!

Will we need to reregister with the new software?

I don’t think so. It is just like the Gallery (using the same platform) and it integrates with the current site login so that should be seamless. For those who are familiar with it, I will be using the same platform as Scrap Girls. Once the migration is complete, I will still need a little bit of time to configure everything for our use.

Will you be letting us know through the FB page when this will be happening? An announcement there when it goes down and comes back up would be nice so we aren’t trying to get to the site.

I don’t think the whole site will be under maintenance. If anything, it would just be the forum that will not be available for a day or two since it is installing a separate platform and not working directly on this one. But I’ll try to notify everyone, either on FB or by email.

Wow, so many awesome responses. I’m no dummy but I’d be afraid I couldn’t solve enough puzzles to get out, lol.

On the website of the place we went to, in their FAQ, they do ask what happens if one does not succeed. In fact, where we played, they have cameras in all the rooms so if anything happens, we can wave to it. Also, after our expired time, someone came and met us where we were, and explained how to finish the last puzzles, which we did, and the door opened to let us out. I guess it is good to know, in case someone is a little claustrophobic!

Anyone who has watched the Big Bang Theory comedy series, would have seen the episode where they went to an escape room.

The room we were in is a little different than the one shown on the Big Bang Theory. The host reminded us that everything in the room had a purpose, and that was the case. Nothing was just decorative. Every line on the wall, every circle on the floor, and even the writing on the ceiling was a clue. I don’t know if they are all like that, but it was definitely not as “packed” as in the BBT episode.

There is one in my small town. I just looked at their website and it has 4 different rooms, rage rooms and splatter paint ball areas.

Hum… I never saw those associated with escape rooms here. That would not be my thing either!

The top layer should be unmerged from the others so you should be able to tweak it separately if you want.

Wow!!! I am sorry I didn’t see this thread earlier. Yes, I was away for the weekend and most things were on auto-pilot (like the newsletter). I guess I am kind of late answering you but I am glad others were able to jump in. Let’s see if I can still answer some questions:

Double-purchases in the store: typically, the system will let you know if you already purchased something EXCEPT if you put the product directly into your cart from your wishlist. But as it has happened before, I would gladly refund that double purchase if it happens.

Yearly plan for DIAMOND membership: I didn’t set up anything of the sort, as the yearly plan is already $50 off the monthly plan. And if you want to upgrade, just go to the MyAccount page (the link on the top of any page), and you will have a button “Change my plan“. From there, you will be directed to the checkout where you will be able to choose the plan and the payment method.

Issues with 2023: As you might have heard, a patch was applied to PSP2023 to fix some bugs but in the process, causes major issues with running scripts (mostly mine as they include more advanced coding than many others), and also with the Expand/Contract commands. Now, those “extra bugs” are fixed. So if you installed PSP2023 in the last couple of days or so, it should show version 25.1.0.32. That is the corrected version. If you still have 25.1.0.28, then you need to uninstall your program and reinstall it. This will pull the correct file from the server and install it. The only exception is those who got a “hotfix”: it will fix the problem but not change the version number. Only a handful of users got that hotfix. You know who you are.

LOL, my dream would be to have one for each product, but with over 600 scripts… that will take a while!

The only “list” is in the store itself. Maybe just search based on the name of the script and you will have the whole description.

For a list of videos, you can see them HERE.

In the forum, it is not organized in the same way since there are way fewer products that are “showcased” than in the store itself.

I guess I assumed that webinar watchers would just post in the What are you working on? thread and add their projects in the gallery.

I agree that rebranding is a big job and only needs to be done with absolutely necessary. Although it crossed my mind for about 2 minutes, no, I don’t plan on rebranding. I just want to be able to speak to whoever I can help with this site and its content. And all those discussions are exactly what I need. I can get the feel of what you were looking for in the first place, and even comments stating that the word “scrapbooking” was putting you off in the first place is perfect: it means that even though the name might not change, the language might change in the pages and in the emails so that non-scrapbookers can also feel as welcome in the first place.

I still plan on having scrapbooking projects, but as you have seen in the past, things like calendars and greeting cards are also in the mix so it just gives me more ideas.

                                                              So, a big thank you!

Although this whole discussion makes me doubt so much of my marketing so far, I love to read all those angles.

And yes, Rene, that is also what I feel, and I might change that in the New Year. I certainly don’t want to leave the digital scrapbooking behind because it is still one interesting/different use of PSP, and still a hobby that some participants might discover, but I agree that the common denominator for 99% of the content, and the participants, is PSP first, scrapbooking second (if at all).

So, let’s keep this thread going, even if it is not just about the “catchy phrase”, keep sharing your experience, your expectations, your journey, or your discoveries about this site.

                                                                Thank you for sharing.
