Day 6
I used a free kit from Papercrafts Inspiration Magazine (on line)
It’s kit 155 – Camping Theme. Love the pinking shears border. That’s a fun technique.
Thanks for the info on how to do the label. Will give that a try tonight.
January 18, 2019 at 6:44 pm #24785New Day, same PSP acting up. Took me 2 hrs to save as jpeg. Could not get file menu to drop. Kept freezing the program.
Anyway here it is. Chipper and Maddux were our American Standard Boxers. Sadly they are gone now and a little piece of my heart with them.
January 18, 2019 at 6:55 pm #24786Cassell,
After I flood fill the black part of the label with gold, is there a way I can add a solid color stroke around the inside and outside edge of the gold part? (Like you can do around the edges of a font?)
Thanks,
Dee
January 18, 2019 at 6:58 pm #24789@Dee, yes, there is a little-used tool for that. While you still have the edge selected, go to Selections > Modify > Select Selection Borders and there, select Inside and outside and a value that will match the size of your element. That will create selections on both sides of the “original” selection, and you can fill that will another color if you want.
January 18, 2019 at 7:06 pm #24790Here is my 4th work project. I enjoyed learning how to change the colors of the title letters but chose not to change the font. I used a circle eraser to make the curvy edge on the white strip. This gave me shapes more like waves than half circle edges. So I used a different shape that gave me the rounded edges I was looking for, but then had to erase the left over white areas. I am sure Cassel would have done it a different way, but I got to where I wanted to go, haha. The added elements came from my purchased elements but I am sorry that I do not keep a record of where they were purchased as I never intend to use any of my purchased supplies commercially. My scrapping is purely for my enjoyment. Cassel: I am thoroughly enjoying this workshop. I hope that it won’t be the last one we do. Oh, I accidentally deleted my 4th day email and would like to go back and rewatch that video. If you have a moment could you email it to me again. I’m sorry to ask you to do that and if you don’t have time I will certainly understand.

Not completely satisfied with my drop shadow but tired of messing with this. I have always used smaller shadows but on this one I thought I would try to use the settings that Carole used. They looked too bold to me and I messed with them so they may be all different now on some things. I always create shadow on a layer by itself so I can tweak it if I want to. I redid the shadow on the striped paper twice because when I saved it disappeared. Not sure why but now I see it has happened again. I am using version 2018 because it is the version that is on the computer I am using today. Seems like it has a lot of bugs lately.
January 18, 2019 at 7:27 pm #24795This is a screenshot of the pspimage file. As you can see the drop shadow is on the striped paper. All I did was save the pspimage file as .jpg in 2018 and when I uploaded it to here the shadow was not there.
Carole do you have any ideas? I really paid close attention after the first time it happened so I know it was there and the eye was open on the shadow layer unless the program closed it all by itself. I just tried it again and when I save to .jpg the shadow is still there, then when I resize to 600 it disappears
January 18, 2019 at 8:05 pm #24798Boot Camp Day 6: still in New Orleans, but used a very different style for this page. I really appreciate knowing about the Selections-Modify-Select Selection Border! I so often want to add a contrasting border to my photos to make them “pop,” and then I end up having to move a colored rectangle as well as every photo. The items I used for this layout came from another Nellie Bell kit, this one called “Alpha and Omega.”
January 18, 2019 at 8:19 pm #24800help!!!! I cant find where to change the font colour on the text tool. I have sent a screen shot of my toolbar. Thanks in advance.

January 18, 2019 at 8:39 pm #24801@Wanda, are you sure you didn’t save two versions? On the uploaded image, the name has hyphens, but on the screenshot, it doesn’t. Just guessing here.
January 18, 2019 at 8:41 pm #24802@Ann, I resent you the Day 4. As for future Bootcamp, I am pretty sure I will repeat this one, but it will be the same beginner lessons, so maybe you would enjoy future Challenges, which are somewhat more advanced and suitable for those already a bit comfortable with PSP.
January 18, 2019 at 8:48 pm #24803@Deb, the option to have the colors in the Text tools settings is not available in your version. It came later. However, the colors from the Materials Palette works the same way as you can select the Fill or Stroke.

Carole I also did not put hyphens in my title. I just looked in the folder and none of the 3 have hyphens in the title. I never use hyphens in titles. Sometimes if I add my name I underscore between the title and my name the title

I guess the hyphens were added by the forum when you uploaded the image. Otherwise, I am kind of stumped. Maybe we can do some troubleshooting, but that would have to be through emails. Are you up to that?

Probably not tonight. I am off to my chair for some TV. I will either figure it out or not. I just thought you might know what was going on. I posted it full size on Facebook and it did not do that but it is not a problem of this site because It happens on my computer before I upload after I save it to 600X600. I even duplicated the shadow and it still doesn’t show when I save. The eye is open on both shadow layers. I am too tired to think about it anymore tonight.
January 18, 2019 at 10:54 pm #24808This is a good problem to have. This Boot Camp is so successful, there is no way I can keep up with all the posts. I see them, in that I get emails about every one and I always look. I just do not have the time to reply to them all. I am loving what the newbies are posting as well as the “oldies”! I find it fun to see how everyones layouts look so different!
Great Job everyone!
Hugs,
DeLoris
January 19, 2019 at 1:35 am #24810Here is my Day 6. The kit is called Chocoholic from JoCee Designs. Love the idea of adding borders to the images and alternating the colors in the titles. Thanks again Carole for a great lesson. It is so nice seeing all of the different designs that are being posted. Great work everyone. I updated the image with a deeper drop shadow since the chocolate pieces actually would be thicker than the paper.
January 19, 2019 at 1:37 am #24812Day 4, catching up 🙂
January 19, 2019 at 2:29 am #24814My Third lesson. A little behind.

darleneJanuary 19, 2019 at 9:15 am #24820Hello everyone,, Finally getting to work on the bootcamp. I am liking all that I see that has been done. Will be doing catch up today. This is Bootcamp #3
I am using PSP 2019, did create most of this on my own, except for the tree tubes. I do not have any kits, so I decided I would try making my own. Hope that is alright. Please give me any suggestions that I can do better, thank you.
January 19, 2019 at 9:18 am #24822Looking at it now that I have posted, I find the background to busy.. Now on to Bootcamp #4
January 19, 2019 at 10:00 am #24824@Deb, since the glitters are barely visible, maybe you had the scale set to very low? Since you kept a layered version, you can always test that.
January 19, 2019 at 10:02 am #24825@Helen, maybe for the background, it was the texture that was too pronounced? Depending on the tool you used, maybe try with a smaller depth?
January 19, 2019 at 11:40 am #24829January 19, 2019 at 11:44 am #24830Ok,, will try it again… thank you
January 19, 2019 at 1:22 pm #24836My cousins and I went to the dog park in Florida several years ago and I was finally able to use the pics I took!
I used the Tranquility kit that Cassel suggested. The dandelions were a bit too transparent for my taste once I tried the drop shadow. I ended up duplicating them, merging the duplicates down, then adding the shadow with a reduced opacity. The two little dogs I used are from Marisa Lerin at PixelScrapper. I know my layouts are almost carbon copies of the tutorials, but that’s how I learn. You guys are so darn creative.

January 19, 2019 at 1:27 pm #24838I really enjoyed this Scrap Bootcamp. I learned a lot of shortcuts and features that I had not previously used in PSP programs. I have been using PSP since version X8 to edit my photos. I now use PSP Ultimate 2019. Digital scrap booking is really new to me. I had signed up and taken a few seminars on line for PSP but was having a hard time trying to remember all that was covered afterwards. I was still very confused up until I took this bootcamp. The repetition over 7 days has helped keep a lot of the information clear in my thought process.
January 19, 2019 at 3:32 pm #24840Here is my Day 7. For some reason my PSP was unable to save this project as a pspimage file this time and nothing was saved after the import text from the clipboard portion of the instruction. I was able to save a complete full size image and a resized option of the completed project however, so if I need to change anything I will just recreate the last few steps. Very odd… Again, thank you for the class Carole. Great work and inspiration from everyone. I went back into my project and figured out my saving pspimage problem. I was down saving to an earlier version that was not compatible with the newer text option and ended up creating another page option with a different background. I am having way too much fun with this.
