This 60 minutes workshop will illustrate more tools and ways to create selections and use them for some "magic" purposes. The complete set includes:

The presentation is made using Paintshop Pro version X7 but all of the information is applicable to other versions too.

The freehand selection tool might be inconvenient for precise lines to follow, but very practical to create a realistic shading on otherwise boring colors.

 

There is a simple (yet little known) way to select a semi-transparent area to give this see-through look on the flower's petal.

 

You can "paint" the selection and get very precise on tiny details like this butterfly's legs and antenna.
